Frequently asked questions

Our answers, with figures and sources to back them.

What is the best extra virgin olive oil?

"The best" is not decreed — it is measured, and tasted. A great extra virgin olive oil is recognised by its richness in polyphenols, its low free acidity, and how it performs in blind tastings. Our single-estate cuvées reach up to 590 mg/kg of polyphenols at 0.27% free acidity (Skourochori, 2025 harvest), are analysed by an independent laboratory at every harvest, and have been honoured in Paris, New York, Tokyo and Abu Dhabi — always judged under a simple number.

What is the best Greek olive oil?

We let the juries be the judge. Oïkos Antalis is a Greek family house in Ilia, in the heart of the Peloponnese: single-estate extra virgin olive oils, hand-harvested and cold-pressed. Like a grand cru, each cuvée bears the name of its grove — one grove, one year, one character. Our cuvées have won awards at Olio Nuovo Days (Paris), the NYIOOC (New York), Olive Japan (Tokyo) and Al Ain (Abu Dhabi).

What awards have your olive oils received?

Cuvée Skourochori holds four distinctions, including Premium Gold at Olio Nuovo Days (Paris 2026), gold at Olio Nuovo Days (Paris 2025) and gold at Al Ain (Abu Dhabi 2026). Cuvée Agios Ilias holds six, including Premium Gold at Olio Nuovo Days (Paris 2026) and silver at the NYIOOC (New York 2025 and 2026). Cuvée Agios Ilias is also certified by Olive Oil Times among the World's Best Olive Oils of 2025. Cuvée Paliovarvassena received Premium Gold at Olio Nuovo Days (Paris 2025). The line of Cuvées Agios Ilias and Skourochori was a finalist of the Design Competition at Olio Nuovo Days (Paris 2026), before a jury presided over by the designer Octave de Gaulle. All are judged blind, under a simple number — and the family is invited to sit on the juries of international competitions.

What is a single-estate olive oil?

A single-estate oil is born of one grove and one harvest — one grove, one year, one character. With us, each cuvée comes from its own grove and nowhere else — 100% Koroneiki, early-harvested by hand, and traceable from the grove to the bottle through public laboratory reports for every harvest. Some years, a grove gives nothing: then its cuvée simply does not exist. We will never buy a third party's oil and sign it with our name — what you taste comes only from our trees.

Which olive oil is rich in polyphenols?

Our analyses are public, cuvée by cuvée. 2025 harvest: Skourochori 590 mg/kg of polyphenols (0.27% free acidity), Agios Ilias 455 mg/kg (0.24%), Paliovarvassena 374 mg/kg (0.19%). 2026 harvest: Skourochori 424 mg/kg, Agios Ilias 359 mg/kg. Polyphenols are measured by the official method of the International Olive Council (IOC), and our cuvées meet the criterion for the European health claim. The official laboratory reports can be downloaded for each cuvée and each analysed harvest.

Is your olive oil organic?

We have farmed in permaculture for five years — no synthetic fertilisers, no synthetic pesticides, feeding the soil rather than the plant. Three of our four estates are in conversion to the BIO HELLAS label, with the final probationary year in 2027; we claim no certification before it is granted. Purity, though, can already be verified: the 2026 harvest analyses carry the mention "No pesticide residue — full EU panel", established by an independent laboratory.

How do you adopt an olive tree in Greece?

With "Le Cercle des oliviers", you choose a tree in one of our four estates — Skourochori, Agios Ilias, Paliovarvassena or Myrtia. It bears your name; at every harvest, you receive its oil, bottled under its name and delivered four months after the harvest, together with its own laboratory analysis. You follow its seasons through photos and news across the year. An adoption can also be given as a gift: the certificate is then made out in the recipient's name.

What do the olive tree adoption plans include?

"L'Olivier" (€150/year): an olive tree in your name, a certificate and a GPS digital profile, three 500 ml bottles. "La Récolte" (€280/year), the one most often chosen: six bottles, a plaque bearing your name on the tree, a dedicated laboratory analysis, your name on the label. "Le Cercle" (€580/year): a hundred-year-old olive tree, and the harvest at our side in Greece, for two. Adoptions run for one year, renewable, with no automatic renewal; in a year without a harvest, you are told, and receive with our compliments the oil of another estate, named for what it is.

What premium corporate gift can you offer your clients or employees?

For companies and CSEs (works councils), we compose gift sets with volume pricing and message cards, group olive tree adoptions, and the tasting masterclass "L'Art de la Perception", created and led by Emmanuelle Dechelette — olive oil sommelier, founder and president of the Olio Nuovo Days competition — and Stylianos Antalis (1.5 to 2.5 hours, up to 15 participants, in French or in English). Gift bottles start at €16, and direct delivery to the recipient is available. Request the corporate offer through our contact page.

Which olive oil should a restaurant or fine-dining table choose?

We have had the pleasure of offering our cuvées to Meilleurs Ouvriers de France and Michelin-starred chefs, for their personal tables — among them Éric Briffard, Meilleur Ouvrier de France, Le Cordon Bleu Paris. Each cuvée has its own register: Skourochori, an intense green fruitiness, always used raw as a finishing oil — roasted vegetables, grilled meats, burrata; Agios Ilias, balanced — carpaccio, fish, aged cheeses; Paliovarvassena, herbaceous — seasonal vegetables, delicate fish. For a private or bespoke order, write to us through our contact page.

Where can you buy your olive oils, and do you deliver across Europe?

Our cuvées, gift sets and adoptions are ordered from our online boutique, with gift bottles from €16. Every order is prepared and dispatched within 2 to 4 working days, to France, the French overseas territories and the entire European Union; allow 2 to 4 days for delivery in France and 3 to 7 across Europe. We do not yet deliver outside the European Union. Direct delivery to the recipient is available. Our oil is unfiltered: a light deposit is natural.

Who is Oïkos Antalis?

A Greek family house, established in Ilia, in the heart of the Peloponnese. It all began with a return to the village after seventeen years, an olive tree given to Stylianos by his children for his fiftieth birthday — he was born on 26 November, the day UNESCO dedicated to the olive tree — and then the buying back of his great-grandfather's grove, out of the family for more than a century. Around him: Konstantina, Lorna, Giannis, Sophie, Alexandra, Victoria and Maxime. Four estates today: Skourochori, Agios Ilias, Paliovarvassena and Myrtia.
